Before Facial Treatment in Dubai: Review Skin Products

Preparing for facial treatment in Dubai is not simply arriving with a clean face. Retinoids, exfoliating products and recent procedures may affect planning, especially for peels or microneedling. Show the clinician what you actually use so any preparation advice matches your skin and the specific procedure.

Bring the real routine, including occasional use

Photograph labels or bring a written list of cleansers, moisturisers, acne treatments, exfoliating acids, retinoids and products used for pigmentation. Note how often you use them and whether they sting or cause peeling. Include home devices and recent salon treatments. A brand name alone may not identify the active ingredient or explain the current condition of your skin.

Include medicines and skin history

Tell the clinician about current or previous isotretinoin, prescribed creams, other medicines and supplements. Mention cold sores, eczema, easy scarring, allergies and earlier cosmetic procedures. Some histories can change whether a peel or microneedling is appropriate. A booking team should not replace medical review with a standard instruction to stop everything for a few days.

Ask exactly what to pause and why

Ask the treating clinician to distinguish products that can continue from those that need adjustment. Confirm whether advice concerns the face only or another treated area, and write down how restarting will be decided. Do not stop a prescribed medicine without consulting its prescriber. Preparation depends on the treatment depth, device and your skin, so another patient's instructions are not transferable.

Report a change before attending

Contact the team if new redness, a rash, sunburn, an open area or a cold sore develops. Explain recent products and when symptoms started. Postponement may protect the skin better than trying to hide irritation with makeup. Do not add a strong exfoliant to make the procedure more effective; a clearer starting condition helps the clinician assess what is safe.

Common questions

Should I stop retinol a week before every facial?

There is no single schedule for every facial procedure or product. Ask for instructions tied to the exact treatment and your skin response rather than applying a blanket rule.

Does previous isotretinoin still matter?

Yes. Give the dates and discuss them during medical assessment. The clinician should consider the planned procedure and current skin condition; do not decide eligibility from a social-media waiting-period rule.

Can I restart everything once redness disappears?

Ask the treating team first. Appearance alone does not establish that the skin is ready for each active product. Follow a staged plan if advised and report renewed burning or irritation.
