Match the plan to the skin concern

A skin concern is not a diagnosis. Good assessment considers what you see, how long it has been present, symptoms, triggers, skin tone, products and medical history before deciding whether cosmetic care is suitable.

01

Which concerns may suit a gentle facial?

Temporary dullness, mild dehydration, surface roughness and occasional congestion may respond to low-intensity care when the skin barrier is stable.

Dry or tight feeling

Review cleanser, environment and barrier care before adding exfoliation.

Dull surface

Gentle exfoliation may improve light reflection, but it does not change every cause of uneven tone.

Occasional congestion

Use careful cleansing and limited extraction; do not treat inflamed acne aggressively.

Pre-event refresh

Choose a familiar low-downtime treatment well before an important event rather than experimenting at the last minute.

02

When should you seek medical assessment instead?

Persistent acne, painful cysts, sudden widespread rash, broken or infected skin, severe redness, unexplained pigment change or a new or changing lesion should not be covered up with a cosmetic facial.

03

Why do skin tone and pigment history matter?

Inflammation can trigger post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, particularly in darker skin tones. Peel strength, device settings and recovery advice should reflect the individual's pigment history rather than a one-size protocol.

  • Tell the provider about previous dark marks after spots, burns or treatments
  • Avoid treating recently sunburned or actively irritated skin
  • Ask how the modality is adjusted for your skin tone
  • Use the recommended broad-spectrum sun protection consistently
