What a useful skin consultation includes
A consultation should connect your concern to a specific, explainable plan. Expect questions about health, medication, allergies, pregnancy, current skincare, active skin conditions, recent procedures and how your skin has reacted before.

What should you tell the provider?
Small details can change treatment safety. Bring a current product and medicine list and disclose active skin problems and recent cosmetic procedures even when they seem unrelated.
- Prescription and over-the-counter medicines, including isotretinoin history
- Allergies, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, acne and cold sores
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Recent waxing, laser, peel, microneedling, injectables or surgery
- Recent sunburn or tanning
- How your skin healed after previous treatments
What should the provider explain?
You should hear the exact treatment name, product or device, intended benefit, realistic limitations, discomfort, visible after-effects, recovery, cost, alternatives and follow-up route before you agree.
Define the concern
Agree on the specific problem rather than promising a vague glow or transformation.
Assess suitability
Check skin condition, health history and contraindications.
Explain the plan
Name the products, settings or strengths and who will perform each step.
Consent without pressure
Give you time to ask questions, choose an alternative or decline.
Which questions are worth asking?
Specific questions reveal more than a treatment menu. Ask about the exact modality, provider credentials, infection control, recovery, pigment risk and the route for urgent advice.
- What diagnosis or concern are you treating?
- Why is this option preferable to a gentler alternative?
- Who will perform it and what is their licensed scope?
- What temporary effects and complications are possible?
- What should I stop before treatment and restart afterwards?
- Who do I contact outside opening hours if I am worried?
